The Kelley Deal 6000

The Kelley Deal 6000 was an alternative band formed in St. Paul, Minnesota by Kelley Deal while on hiatus from The Breeders. The band were originally called Solid State, but another band had already taken that name. Most of the initial songs for the band were written by Deal while in rehab.

The band’s original line-up included Kelley on guitar and vocals, Marty Nedich on bass, Steve Salett on guitar, and Nick Hook on drums.

The Kelley Deal 6000 released two albums on Kelley’s Nice Records label, Go to the Sugar Altar in 1996 and Boom! Boom! Boom! in 1997. After touring in ‘97 the band went on hiatus, with Deal becoming a full-time member of her sister’s band The Breeders.
